How Much Alcohol is Safe for Women? महिलाओं को स्वस्थ रहने के लिए अल्कोहल कितना सुरक्षित है|Dr Bipin
Today we are going to talk about a very important topic as you know is “How much alcohol is safe for women”.
a. What is Binge Drinking?
A high blood alcohol content (BAC) raises the BAC to 0.08 or above. It doesn’t matter how many drinks you had. When the BAC is higher than 0.08 or above it is considered binging.
b. What is Excess Drinking?
It is referred to as when women have more than 8 drinks in one week, 4 or more drinks in a time span of two hours.
Women should have not more than one glasses per day. Here we’re referring to a few ounces, it is the amount that will cause least damage.
One drink per day for women is considered moderate. One drink is:
• 12 ounces of regular beer (5 percent alcohol)
• 5 ounces of wine (12 percent alcohol)
• 1.5 ounces of 80 proof distilled spirits (40 percent alcohol)
• These authoritative limits do not guarantee safety
Q. What are the tips for safe drinking?
a. Safety limit/ week: For women, the authority to consume alcohol is up to 8-10 units per week.
b. Have several drink-free days a week: If you want to cut down on alcohol, have several drink-free days a week and see what positive results you notice.
c. Find other ways to relax: Some people drink alcohol to relax. but in reality, alcohol can make you feel even more stressed out. Try some alternative stress-busters. like hitting the gym or having a hot bath.
d. Know what you’re drinking: Check out the ABV (Alcohol by Volume) of alcohol before you buy it and consume as per the suggested limits. The Drinkaware app will help you to track the units in your drinks so you can be sure you’re staying within the guidelines
e. No Binging: But this does not mean you can consume all the amount in a single day. Which is called binge drinking – which is extremely harmful.
f. Pregnant or planning pregnancy avoid alcohol: If you are pregnant or planning your pregnancy it is best to stop alcohol consumption. As it can damager your babies physical and mental growth.
g. 1 unit/hour: A thing to remember and understand is that the liver is only able to break down alcohol at an average rate of one standard drink per hour.
h. 2-3 units/day: Don’t exceed the limit of 2-3 units per day.
i. Gap of 2-3 days: Keep a gap of 2-3 days in a session of alcohol consumption as the liver gets time to recover
j. Drink slowly: Enjoy your food and drink.
k. Don’t watch or follow others: You also need to understand that the limit for alcohol consumption in men is more than that in females due to various factors. So don’t go for that extra shot or glass only because your friend is doing so.
